What LinkedIn’s University Pages Can Mean for Your Business

We all know there is a talent shortage out there. Finding, retaining, and recruiting the people you need to run and operate your business can be difficult. A significant amount of branding, connecting, and searching is done online today. A couple weeks ago, LinkedIn announced the rollout of University Pages. We think this will play an important role for service-based business in recruiting. There is a lot we don’t know, yes, but here are our predictions.

Easier Access to College-Level Recruits

University pages will provide high school students and existing students with a means to learn more about their career aspirations through following university pages. This means LinkedIn should see a big increase in students joining and following University pages.

As LinkedIn user, this will give you more access to students in centralized locations, regardless of whether or not they show up to the career fair you attend. For those that advertise, this could be a great way to target students from specific universities in specific programs you hire from, like accounting, for example.

More Alumni Connections

As university pages grow, so too will their alumni connections. These pages will provide followers with the opportunity to engage with other students and alumni. Plus, it can showcase notable alumni and help you build a network.

Whether it’s recruiting or building your business, we think these connections will be good for our firms. They provide experienced business professionals an easy way to reconnect with fellow alumni.

Better Recruiting Pipelines

Building a solid pipeline of future employees can be difficult for most firms. Capacity and giving people relevant reasons to stay connected with the firm can be difficult. University Pages will give these students a reason to join LinkedIn in the first place and as they develop through their career, the many other long standing features will give them a way to stay out there.

Connecting early means you have the ability to build a more robust pipeline of candidates and an easy way to market to them when you do have open job positions.

More Branding Opportunities

Branding isn’t just important for getting new clients, you need a solid brand that will also attract the best and brightest talent for you firm. Getting in front of students earlier allows you to build visibility early and stay in front of them.
