Who Are the Best Marketing & Growth Partners for Accounting Firms? (2026 Guide)
By: Becca Johns
Accounting firms have more marketing and growth options than ever — from boutique consultants to research-driven agencies to fractional CMOs. This guide breaks down the firms actively serving the profession today, what each one actually does, and how to think about the right fit for your firm.
Why We’re Publishing This List — and Why We’re On It
If you’re a managing partner or firm leader searching for marketing or growth help, you’re going to run into a lot of similar-sounding claims: “we grow accounting firms,” “we build brands,” “we drive leads.” It’s genuinely hard to tell providers apart from the outside.
Inovautus Consulting is included in this list. We work exclusively with accounting and advisory firms, and several of the organizations below are firms we respect and occasionally compete with directly. We’ve aimed to describe each one fairly and accurately, based on their own public positioning — not to talk anyone down. Our goal is to give you a genuinely useful map of the landscape so you can make a more informed decision, whether or not that decision includes us.
How We Grouped These Firms
“Marketing agency for accounting firms” actually covers two pretty different things: firms that provide full-service growth consulting (marketing plus training, practice management, and strategy) and firms that provide specialized or narrower marketing execution (a specific service like branding, CRM implementation, or fractional leadership, or a broader agency that also serves accounting as one of several industries). We’ve split the list along that line, in alphabetical order within each group — this isn’t a ranking.
Inovautus Consulting
(Full disclosure — this is us. We’ve listed ourselves first because we fall in both categories, and this is our own site, after all.)
Inovautus works exclusively with accounting and advisory firms — 100% of our clients are CPA and advisory firms. We combine brand strategy, market research, growth assessments and planning, content development, outsourced marketing, business development consulting, fractional CRO services, and training/coaching (including our CPA coaching programs) into a single, embedded growth partnership. We also publish original research through our Growth Outlook® survey.
Where we think we differ from a number of firms on this list: many providers in this space specialize in one side of the equation — they’ll set your strategy and hand you a plan to execute yourselves, or they’ll execute campaigns and creative without much involvement in the strategic thinking behind them.
We built Inovautus to do both. The same team that helps set your growth strategy stays on to help implement it, which means the plan is built with execution in mind from day one, and execution stays anchored to the strategy instead of drifting from it. Our take: growth is more than marketing and sales, so we work with firms holistically rather than handing off a single service in isolation.
Full-Service Growth Consultancies for the Accounting Profession
These firms combine marketing with training, practice management, and/or leadership development, and largely or exclusively serve accounting and advisory firms.
Boomer Consulting, Inc.
Boomer is a broad practice-management, technology, and leadership consultancy for CPA firms, best known for its “Circles” peer communities (Managing Partner, Technology, Talent, Marketing & Business Development, and others), the Boomer Technology Circles, and its annual Circle Summit. Marketing and BD is one of many practice areas it covers rather than its core specialty — a strong fit for firms that want a broad leadership and technology partner alongside marketing input, rather than dedicated marketing execution.
Capstone Marketing
Led by Jean Caragher, Capstone has worked exclusively with CPA firms for roughly 35 years. Services include marketing plans, brand “surgery” and rebranding, content marketing, outsourced CMO support, retreat facilitation, and client satisfaction surveys. It’s a solo-practitioner model — a good fit for firms that want deep, individual, long-tenured expertise rather than a larger team.
The Growth Partnership (TGP)
TGP works exclusively with accounting firms across three pillars: marketing services (audits, outsourced marketing, branding, demand generation, SEO), training (Firm Universities, the Partner Institute), and practice management (strategic planning retreats, the Rosenberg Survey benchmarking data). Structurally, it’s one of the closest peers to Inovautus — a full-service, accounting-exclusive growth partner.
Winding River Consulting
Winding River is an accounting-exclusive consultancy centered on consulting and advisory work (M&A/PE orchestration, strategic growth plans), leadership development (its Managing Partner Bootcamp and Winning Ways conference), and partner retreats, with a “Digital Growth” service line covering marketing strategy and execution. It’s best described as a practice-management and leadership-development firm that also does marketing, rather than a marketing-first shop; its site cites work with a majority of Top 200 firms.
Specialized Marketing & Agency Providers Serving the Profession
These firms offer a narrower or more execution-focused service — a specific discipline, a fractional role, or a broader agency where accounting is one of several industries served.
AccountingCMO (yorCMO)
Led by Chad Person, AccountingCMO provides fractional CMO leadership built specifically for accounting firms, along with advisory/mentorship programs and AI-agent tools for prospecting. It’s a strong fit for firms that want an embedded, individual marketing executive without hiring one full-time.
Build Your Firm
Established in 2003 and exclusive to the accounting industry, Build Your Firm focuses on SEO-driven websites, lead generation, and CPE-eligible training on marketing, selling, and practice management. It’s oriented toward smaller and solo tax/accounting practices looking for lead-generating websites and sales training rather than brand strategy.
Hinge Marketing
Hinge is one of the largest research-driven branding and marketing agencies serving professional services, with accounting and financial services as one of six industry verticals (alongside AEC, legal, consulting, government contracting, and technology). It’s known for the Hinge Research Institute’s annual High Growth Study, its Visible Firm® and Visible Expert® programs, and a recently launched GEO (generative engine optimization) service focused on AI search visibility.
A strong option for larger firms that want a big, research-backed agency, with the tradeoff that accounting isn’t its sole focus.
Ingenuity Marketing Group
Ingenuity has served professional services firms — including CPA and wealth management firms — for more than 20 years, offering outsourced marketing, communications consulting, digital marketing, and research/surveys. Structurally, its outsourced-marketing model is similar to Inovautus’s, though it isn’t exclusive to accounting.
Mole Street
Mole Street is a HubSpot Elite Solutions Partner specializing in CRM and website implementation for mid-market and enterprise organizations. Accounting & advisory firms are one of several industries it serves (alongside credit unions, private equity, banks, and higher education), with public case study experience including a Top 100 accounting firm. It’s a strong option specifically for HubSpot/CRM implementation, rather than brand strategy or full-service marketing.
How to Choose the Right Partner
A few questions worth asking as you evaluate any firm on this list (including us):
- Specialization: Do they work with accounting firms exclusively, or is your industry one of several they serve? Neither is automatically better, but it changes how much translation you’ll have to do.
- Scope: Are you looking for strategy, execution, training, practice management, or some combination? Some of these firms do one thing very well; others are built to cover several.
- Engagement model: Fractional leadership, outsourced team, project-based agency work, or ongoing consulting partnership — each fits a different stage of firm and internal capacity.
- Size and structure fit: A firm built for Top 100 national players may not serve a 20-person local practice the same way, and vice versa.
- Track record with firms like yours: Ask for references from firms of comparable size and growth stage, not just headline client logos.
If you’d like to talk through where Inovautus might — or might not — be the right fit, reach out to our team. And if you think we’ve mischaracterized your firm anywhere in this piece, we’d genuinely like to hear from you and will correct it.
